Horizon Paintings

These are examples of paintings I made in 2001 which explored the painting as object and image relationship in true Modernist fashion!

Drawing and Painting 1997-2002

These are randomnly selected images which show some of my work since 1997 to 2002. I thought it useful to suggest that when seen in this way the different images represent different times and circumstances.

This is a photograph of a painting made on wood panel in 2002. The materials are acrylic and sand on wood. This painting was made at the Florence Trust Studios in Islington. Despite the object like construction of the painting the surface materials suggest a landscape image.

These photographs show a painting titled Monument. It is made of 4 separate wood panels. The surface material is charcoal and acrylic dispersion and the dimensions are 82.5cm x 175cm. The work is shown exhibited at the University of Hertfordshire Gallery, Hatfield, Hertfordshire in 2001. This work illustrates the relationship between painting and the sculptural object. These images are from colour positive film.

This painting was made in 2002. It is made of oil, acrylic and sand on panel. There are many layers of paint although some are the residue of painting removed. Whatever the mark there is always a trace even if it is removed. The image is taken from a scanned slide. I think the original photograph was taken inside the Church where I was working at the time. There is alot of shadow in the photograph.
